Indiana Law Enforcement Academy to Implement Acadis™ State-wide Training Management System

Bloomington, IN - September 1, 2004 - The Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) has chosen ENVISAGE, an Indiana-based high-tech company specializing in Law Enforcement Training Automation, to deploy a state-wide technology infrastructure to streamline academy operations and provide a robust platform for the collection and management of ongoing training requirements for over 11,000 law enforcement professionals across the State. The project was partially funded by grants from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute and the Department of Homeland Security.

Launched in 2002, Acadis™ (Academy Administration Information System) is a modular enterprise system built upon a scalable Oracle® database. Accessible via a standard internet browser, the enterprise solution automates critical training functions including; student record keeping, certification and qualification tracking, scheduling, automated testing, and training inventory management while facilitating administrative workflow via highly-configurable business rules. The technology has been successfully implemented with several of the largest law enforcement academies in the United States.

"I am very enthusiastic about the implementation of Acadis™ at our academy. The information we will be able to obtain regarding specific recruits and their academic progress will greatly enhance operations, and allow ILEA to continue to provide world-class law enforcement training well into the future," stated Scott Mellinger, ILEA Director. "Acadis™ will drastically reduce the amount of time our staff spends on time consuming tasks, eliminate paper intensive processes, and give our management tools that are critical for accomplishing our mission."

"This technology will put ILEA on the "cutting edge" of law enforcement training" stated Deputy Director Rusty Goodpaster. "By providing instant access specific information regarding each officer, their strengths and weaknesses, our training staff will be empowered to provide the citizens of our state with the highest quality police officers possible."

Scheduled for deployment by the first quarter of next year, the state-wide Acadis™ infrastructure will be installed in phases after a thorough review of the underlying business processes by ENVISAGE. Once installed, agencies will be able to manage myriad training related activities online including registration, submission of annual training status reports and management of employee transfers via the web. Internally, the Academy's administrative processes including dorm-room assignments, student records management, grading, counseling & remediation, meal plan tracking, resource management, agency billing and numerous other day-to-day training functions will be streamlined by the system.

"ILEA has shown a strong commitment to becoming a model 21st century law enforcement academy." Said Ari Vidali, ENVISAGE CEO. "Their dedication to quality law enforcement training coupled with a visionary management team, makes them an ideal candidate for a transformational technology like Acadis™. We are excited to be working with them and look forward to an outstanding partnership."

About ILEA
The first basic law enforcement training course was conducted in the summer of 1969 at Indiana Central College, now the University of Indianapolis. In December of 1969, the Academy moved to the Indiana University campus at Bloomington, and remained there until January 1, 1975. On January 6, 1975 training began in the new facility at Plainfield and it continues there today. Law enforcement training has experienced many changes over the Academy's 30+-year history. The mission of the Academy has expanded from basic training of new recruits to instructor, advanced, and chief of police training. A myriad of law enforcement organizations including municipal, county, state and federal agencies utilize the facility to train others as well as themselves.
